Ian Perkins

Ian Perkins BA/LLB is the CEO of lawlab, a boutique law firm specialising in water conveyancing and Australian water resources law. Ian has been closely engaged in recent water reforms in Australia, providing advice to government, peak industry bodies and irrigators in relation to water trade and market reform issues in the ACT, NSW, Queensland, SA, Tasmania, WA and Victoria. Ian has been involved in cross jurisdictional water resources law practice for 11 years. After acquiring some regionally-based law firms in 2000, he transformed them into an integrated water and land practice providing quality advice and processing high volume conveyancing transactions. This has lead to lawlab being instrumental in the implementation of some recent government water purchase initiatives.

Formerly with national law firm Corrs Chambers Westgarth, Ian obtained large project experience early in his career in projects that included the privatisation of Coleambally Irrigation and the Ord River Scheme. Ian is currently supported at lawlab by a team of trained paralegal and research staff with current expertise in cross jurisdictional water resources practice.
